Essential Survival Tips For Women
The wrong perception about women is that we are weak, vulnerable and aren’t capable of handling powerful things. Men also think we react more negatively than them. The problem with this is that the propaganda is so pervasive that even some women think that way and most women sell themselves short when it comes to talking regarding their strength in the face of a disaster.
By the same token, when people talk about preppers or survival, women are left out of the topic, probably as a result of the same belief. Just look on the internet how many websites are for survival, and compare that to how many survival sites are talking about women survival. It’s all for the men out there. There shouldn’t be a norm that prepping or survival is only about men and women have nothing to do with it. No, women are not vulnerable. We are absolutely capable of providing for ourselves and our loved ones even in very harsh times.
In fact, we are born as preppers and survivalists as compared to men, maybe more.
When we learn some particular set of skills, then we can increase our chances of survival in an SHTF (Shit Hit The Fan) scenario.
These following essential survival skills should be at the fingertips of each of us. Whether we are single, mothers or with a family and spouse.
Watch others before acting
If you’re new to prepping or survival, then it’s best to begin by learning through observation. Even in an SHTF (Shit Hit The Fan) situation where you’re left with a group of people needing to survive, you should learn to observe what the others are doing without disclosing your own goals.
Use Extra Caution Before Fighting
Fighting is not a good survival behavior. Sometimes, fleeing is a better behavior than fighting, because the end is not to win over someone, but to survive. By fighting, your increase your chance of being hurt and lower your chance of survival. Leave the fight to the stupid guys with lots of testosterone. Even in normal circumstances, you should be very vigilant regarding your security. Being cautious comes naturally when you’re a women and being a prepper makes you even more cautious regarding your surroundings. For us women, we have to realize that a SHTF situation is not always some kind of a catastrophic event like a natural disaster or a home invasion. It might be an encounter with a drug addict on the Wal*Mart parking lot, a rapist down the alley or even an extreme cat callers may require you to fight or use your survival skills.
Even if you learn a lot about prepping by reading all my posts on EssentialSurvival.Tips, or from my social media communities and account, improving your self-defense is what you need to learn practically. You will need to sign up for martial arts or boxing classes in order to get better at protecting yourself.
You can also learn to efficiently use a weapon or tool to be more equipped at self-defense.
In an essential survival condition, you will need to have skills like gathering wood, hunting, or setting a makeshift shelter. Don’t even think about the possibility of your male prepper friend doing this part. You actually should be comfortable with doing everything on your own. Actually, you never know if you may be the only one living or the only one being able to do it (think about your friend(s) being unjured, broken bones, inconscient, etc…) .
Unfortunately, most of my girlfriends are not quite good at using tools or repairing things. Even in normal conditions, the fairer sex isn’t expected to know a way to fix a broken tire.
Bottom line is: learn to use various kinds of survival gear and ensure you keep on updating your survival kit with all that’s new.
Think and talk like a pro
Even if you’re fairly new to prepping, or don’t know much about something, don’t let the guys know about that. Talk to others with authority and don’t offer men the impression that you’re the weakest link. Even if you live alone attempt sharing this information with a minimum number of people. In a teotwawki event, if you make it super obvious that you are alone out there, then you’re inviting people to cause you trouble.
Make your house secure
At home, even when you have the strongest locks, you should know how to seal your windows or fortify your home if your house gets attacked by intruders. Also, if there’s a plague-like situation, you must be ready to hunker down. Have your list of things-to-have prepared in advance and in the right place so as to build the place as stay worthy as possible.
Remember. in case of major incident, the goal is to survive, no matter what. Even if you’re a woman, start prepping now and be your own savior. Size or appearance doesn’t matter as long as you’re strong and enough prepared to face hardships and defend yourself if need be.
